Aphidius spp. abundant;  mounted only the following:-
Aphidius pseudoplatani 2♂︎♂︎ swept near trees, including Sycamore!
A. pterocommae? ♀︎, ant. 19.
A. pascuorum? ♀︎, ant. 16, dark legs; also a ♂︎, ant. 20, with black legs - possible same species as ♀︎.
Proctos. Abundant: 2 only mtd.
Chalcids abundant: none mtd.
Cynipids frequent: none mtd.
Dipteron = Simulium?

In hedge opposite where we left our cylcles grew an almost prickleless rose with very elongate fruits of the R. canina group. Desmond Meikle writing on 22.10.47 says it is probably the same as that I showed him at foot of Glenasmole in 1944 & ref. to R. canina (Sect. dumalis) var. fraxinoides (H.B.) Wolley-Dod.

A fine mild day after a fine night & day; almost entirely dull but some sun in late afternoon on way home; very dull & windless in forenoon with drizzle on hills & slight in Dublin-Clondalkin area - none at Leixlip; strong S-SW wind in afternoon at Leixlip; slight SE. wind in Dublin.

19.10.47, cont.  Rye Water & Royal Canal, KD., cont.

Left home about 10.30 & rode to Louisa Bridge, Leixlip, Co. KD.  by sweeping from 12 noon till 1.15 by the Rye Water (right bank) & N. of Aqueduct (as usual): nearly all insects taken on flat beside river in area next canal & at bottom of next field to N. of this.

After lunch rode on W. along canal for 1/4 of a mile & collected in field of turnips & marigolds (same field as collected in in previous years.) Nearly all insects swept along W. side of field, but some at NW. corner next road & along S. side next canal.

2 = Field between canal & Maynooth road 1/4 mile W. of Louisa Bridge.

Cryptinids, 6 including Hemiteles spp. gracilis group ♂︎♂︎ & ♀︎ & Pezomachus ♀︎, ant. 20.  No others mounted!
Pimpla brevicornis 1 large ♀︎: not mtd.
Colpomeria quadrisculpta ♀︎, very nice, ant. 27.
Promethes sulcator  3♂︎♂︎: not mtd.
