24th June 1948.

A fine day after misty rain early in morning & after a fine day on 23rd. Warmer than recently with very soft-air; much hot sun in forenoon, cloudy with increasing breeze in afternoon; wind W in Dublin, but SE at Brittas Bay & along coast.

Drove to Magherabeg, with Marcus Graham & J.P. Brunker, leaving home at 10.5 & reaching Magherabeg at 11.30. Spent an hour & a half collecting around lagoon & in dunes, while Brunker searched for & refound his Carex vesicaria x hirta which he took here in 1945, but which we failed to find in July 1946.

At 1 P.M. drove on to Ardinairy & Buckroney, S. of Mizen Head & found the new concrete road along coast finished, thus reopening the coast road to Arklow, blocked by blowing sand about 100-120 years ago. Spent afternoon there collecting at SE corner of Buckroney marsh & in dunes.
