4th August 1948. 

A warm, dull, day, with gentle easterly breeze in Dublin, no wind at Gollierstown, & again with drizzle over the hills: nearly drizzling at Gollierstown!

Drove in afternoon to & left car at Ballymakailly Bridge & walked up canal to Gollierstown by tow path & home by path on South side of canal 3.30 till 6.0 P.M.

Collected by sweeping in 3 areas, as follows:- 
1 = Edge of canal by towpath for ¼ mile above loch.
2 = Nearly dry pond full of Saggitaria, Glyceria, &c. N. of wall, 1/8 mile NW. of Gollierstown Bridge.
3 = E. end of 2nd pond SW of Gollierstown Bridge.
