19th August 1948 (Thursday).

A very fine day, no rain, no wind, some sun, mainly cloudy, cool except in sun.  After putting Graham Connah on the mail boat at Kingstown at 8.30 A.M. took the day off.  Gardened in forenoon, but in afternoon drove to Lucan & spent 1 1/2 hours in the Sarsfield Estate where conditions perfect for sweeping & few flies
