8th Sept. 1948. 

A beatiful day after a very wet night.  Much very hot sun & some light clouds;  rain again at 8 P.M.  Rode on bikes (as petrol scarce!) to Marlfield, Old Bawb, & on to same field above Jobstown where collected on 5th Sept.  Here swept for 1 1/2 hours in two areas, but grass very wet & it was not possible to sweep all spots swept on 5th & did not not sweep side of road at all.  Arrived 3.30 & left for home at 5 P.M.

1 = S. edge of grazing field (top end) along, road from Marlfield.
2 = E. edge of same field, where drier but windy.
