1st June 1949.  

A fine cool morning with low, steady glass & NW breeze.  About 10 AM (S.T.) wind turned east with "jam" & drizzle.  In afternoon a thunderstorm formed with heavy rain over S.E. Dublin & only cleared when wind veered to SW. in late afternoon.

After tea, ca. 6.40 drove in car to Manor-Kilbride, Co. WI. & swept area where Dacnusa thisbe taken on Sunday 29th May (see sketch map on p.221, antea) for half an hour.  Later drove to Ballinascorney Gap where left car & climbed Slieve-na-bawnoge in brilliant sunshine: left there 9.30 P.M. for home. 

Insects taken in wood in [[triangle]] between roads at Manor-Kilbride, Co. WI.  7.0 till 7.30 P.M.

Aphelopus  3♂︎♂︎ - two very white!
Cryptinids  5♂︎♂︎, including Exolytus sp. ♂︎, ant. 27, Hemiteles sp. ♂︎, ant. 20 & 3♂︎♂︎ of Phygadeuon?, not mtd.
Mengersenia exareolata m.  ♀︎, ant. 16, same as taken at Ballyhenry on 22.5.49.
Promethes cognatus  1♂︎, 2♀︎♀︎: not mtd.
