16th Sept. 1949.

Another very nice day, but more cloud & rather strong W. breeze. At 11 AM. drove to Landenstown, on Grand Canal, W. of Sallins, Co. KD., with John & Una Palmer (& Daisy!).

Stopped where canal carried over R. Liffey & went under canal to inspect new electric pumps (3) which are pumping water from Liffey into canal as an extra feed.

Some very nice ground for sweeping along margin of river & by stream flowing under canal. Then on to Landenstown, where had lunch at 12.45 noon.
