30th Sept. 1949.

Cooler & mainly dull in afternoon, when we rode on bikes to Tallaght & home via Old Bawn, Orlagh College & Templeogue. Ivy in full bloom in many places. Saw E.N. Carrothers's Geranium in ditch opposite workers cottages, just E. of stream, as one leaves Tallaght to go to Old Bawn, but no sign of flowers or fruit on it. Saw one Red Admiral butterfly near Old Bawn.

One Speckled Wood Butterfly still in back garden of 14 Clareville Rd., where two frequently seen during the last six weeks, but ? all the same species!
