7th May 1950. 

After a wet night, a very fine day, hazy, with much hot sun, but very strong NNE wind along coast.  Drove, alone, with Marcus Graham to Newcastle station in The Murrough, Co. WI., where arrived 11.30 AM. & left at 5.15. Home 6.30.  Collected before lunch along railway & between railway & marsh, but very little to be got owing to wind which was blowing right down the railway so that no shelter; this = 1.

After lunch crossed railway at Five Mile Point & went along lane across the marsh, collecting on sides of line & in shelter of hedge on S. side of lane & in fields toward North Grange = 2.
