29th May 1950.

A dull day, with strong cool SW. wind, only clearing up & sunny in late afternoon after we returned. Left Dorchester at 11.20 driven by Dr. & Mrs. Day to Abbotsbury & then on to Swyre on coast near (E. of) Bridport. Dr. Day & I left car at Swyre & walked down lane to Chesil Beach & the westwards past Burton Mere & joined Daisy, Mrs. Day & the car at West near Burton Bradstock & so home at 4.30.

Got very little chance to collect, but swept side of lane from Swyre to coast, sheltered side of old hedge behind the beach & here & there around Burton Mere & along the beach, but wind very strong & except in lane & behind hedge between lane & beach very little to be got.
