30th May 1950.

A perfect day, all sunny, very warm & gentle S.W. breeze after a dewy night. Took 10.35 bus to Puddletown & walked sough along lane into Ilsington Wood & spent day there, chiefly collecting Aculeates on patch of Wood Spurge, as very few small hymenoptera could be found by sweeping birch, &c. - too hot! Also collected a few aculeates at chalk pit on W. side of lane 1/4 mile S. of Puddletown & a fair number of Ichneumonids along sides of lane off Chaerophyllum sylvestre, Cow Parsnip, Maple, &c. &c. Returned by bus at 5.8 from Puddletown.
