28th May 1953. 

A lovely, hot, sunny day, with gentle W. wind, after a dull morning.  Left home in car at 10:30 AM. & drove to Woodend - E. of Blessington - where left car & walked up & on to ridge S. of Lugnagun Great where had lunch at about 1250 feet.  After lunch went along ridge & up NW. face of Sorrel Hill, 1,976 ft., where spent 1/4 hour enjoying view & catching Diptera sitting on & around the cairn.  Also saw one Red Admiral Butterfly flying around summit.  Collected by sweeping all the way from lunch place to summit & this = 1.  Came back via the Woodend Brook & old road along SW. side of Woodend Hill & swept a few insects off Salix aurita by the brook at ca. 1,000 ft. = 2.  Finally after cup of tea at car, swept sides of road along W. side of [[image]] "triangle" at Woodend, as often before: this = 3

Cryptinids 16 - all ♂︎♂︎ but one - mainly Hemiteles, Phygadeuon, or Atractodes - none mtd. 
Lissonota magdalenae Pfankuch.  A lovely ♂︎, swept!  Ant. broken.
Stenomacrus affinis var. C.?:  ♀︎; very small; ant 23.
Apanteles cf. pallipes  1: not mtd.
Aspilota sp. 4♂︎♂︎ - 3 only mtd. = A.? sp. n.  2♂︎♂︎, ant. 19 & 20: dimple semi-areolated, rugose, prop. very small, dark legs = viduatus sp. n.  Type! & Co-Type.  AWS. 12.5.1965.
A. (Synadis) rudenticornis?: ♂︎, ant. 23.

= Aphidius 2 spp. 1♂︎ of each, both with very black legs: ant. 13+ & 19.
