[NB. The box containing the insects coll. Lawers was posted home & arrived by error vai Parcel instead of Letter Post & some of the packets had broken loose & damage caused:  also some of the contents of at least one packet, that of Killin, (1) 22.7.53, had spilled out & got damaged: 16 (? all from this packet) at least found loose on arrival & these mounted & labelled "? Killin, (1) 22.7.53" in August 1953. A.W.S.] all included in list of those taken at 1, see p.173.


23rd July, 1953. 

Left Lawers by noon bus & reached Glasgow at 4.45;  left Glasgow at 9.0 PM & in Belfast at 7.0 AM;  travelled by 8.15 train ex Belfast & home in Dublin by noon on Friday 24th.  

By canal above Buchanan St. Station Glasgow saw a baby plant of Osmunda regalis growing in the stonework just above water level near an oil wart.
