10th May 1954.

A most perfect day:  mainly sunny & with warm air for the first time really since January!  Clouds SW;  wind S. to SE., fresh but not cold.

In afternoon drove to Bohernabreena & left car at gate of waterworks & walked up to lodge below lower dam & back to car - 3 till 4.30 P.M.  Collected here & there by sweeping, but mainly under trees & along river near where left car.  More insects out than previously seen this year & the following swept.

Dicaelotus (Deloglyptus) punctiventris Thoms.  ♀︎ running on rotten stump!  Ant. 22. "M.D.S."
Hemiteles or Phygadeuon  4♂︎♂︎, 1♀︎:  only 1 (♂︎) mounted:  ant. 21 = 
Picrostigeus cf. recticauda  ♂︎, ant. 28.
Campoplegid  ♂︎: not mtd.
Apanteles pallipes  3♂︎♂︎.
Perilitus viduatus miki:  small black ♂︎, ant. 21.
Aspilota (Synaldis) ♀︎, ant. 19, short ant. with moniliform apical segments:  crassicornis rather than rudenticornis!
A. (S.) filicornis m.?  ♂︎, ant. 23:  dark legs.
Dacnusa areolaris, laevipectus & maculipes - see below  8 (♂︎ & ♀︎):  [[strikethrough]] none [[/strikethrough]] one mtd.
D. maculipes  1♂︎, ant. 21.
D. sp.? (ovalis group?)  ♂︎, ant. 26, dark legs:  might come near tamiris Nixon

Beetles 6  Cis? ♂︎ & ♀︎ in cop. under fungus on stump.  Also a ♀︎ Hylecoetus dermestoides!

11th & 12th May 1954.

Warm, little or no wind, rain or drizzle all day on 11th, much of the night, all day on 12th till 6 P.M. then again from 11 P.M. till breakfast time.


13th May.

A very lovely day, warm, with much hot sun, wind west & fresh at times - expecially at Bohernabreena & up Glenasmole.  In afternoon drove to gate of waterworks & left car - arriving at 2.30 P.M.  Left for home at 4.40.

1 = Under trees at gate lodge where left car, as on 10th May.  2.30-3.30.  These labelled "Bohernabreena".
2 = Under trees between 2nd lodge & the lower dam, mainly between road up dam & the river;  but a few taken on edge of scrub in field on W. side of glen 1/8 mile below dam.  These labelled "Glenasmole"  4 till 4.30 P.M.

Bethylus fuscicornis  ♀︎ & another minute smooth & polished Bethylid taken by Daisy on a stump = Cephalonomia formiciformis Wwd. ♀︎:  this ex. confirmed by O.W. Richards, in ltt. dated 26.5.1954.
Myrmica laevinodis & Leptothorax acervorum  ☿☿ on a stump.
Hemiteles & Phygadeuon spp.  8 small ♂︎♂︎: none mtd.
Stenomacrus curvulus  ♂︎, ant. 23:  NB.  Some of my specimens (apparently all ref. to curvulus!) have an areolet, some not;  some have 3rd abscissa of radius straight & some curved!  AWS. 1965.
Apanteles [[strikethrough]] fulvipes [[/strikethrough]] pallipes group:  same as taken here on 10th May:  3♂︎♂︎ = pallipes!
Alloea contracta  ♀︎, ant. 20.
Aspilota cf. fuscescens  2♂︎♂︎: not mtd.
Aspilota fuscicornis  ♂︎ & ♀︎, not mtd.
A. (Synaldis) spp.  3♂︎♂︎ probably all concolor.  Not mtd.
