Dacnusa areolaris? 6: 5♀︎♀︎ mtd., ant. 20-22, legs very dark; radial cell long! Aphidius small sp. (?♀︎), nearly all black; ant. 16. A. larger sp. ♂︎, ant. 20. Proctos 6: none mtd. Chalcids 7: all mtd. = Cynipid 1 = Hemiptera 6 = Sawfly: Tenthredo balteatus ♂︎. Dipteron 1 (minute). Beetles 3 = The greenish Hemipteron, greenish Scyllidae & green Aphids shaken in clouds from the curious old & yet small birch trees in small glen S. of the road. 5.7.54 cont. Stopped at about 2 P.M. about 3 miles E. of Durness & near Rispond, where the road runs close & 150 feet above a nice sandy bay with area of blown sand & Marram Grass, [[?slips]] & grassy slopes. I think the rock is limestone, but it is drenched with blown sand & Dryas growson all the ledges to within six feet of the sand & Carex capillaris on the grassy slopes. Rubus saxatilis, Sax. aizoides, Ivy &c. are also on the cliffs. Swept the Marram Grass 134. 5.7.54 (2) cont. Sandy coast near Rispond. 2.0-3.0 PM. & vegetation at foot of cliffs, including Salix cinerea, Hazel & Birch & here took the following insects:- 26 mounted but not labelled till 7.9.1963. Sawfly: small, black, ♀︎ Nematine = Cladius pectinicornis ♀︎. Heiteles sp. ant. 21, ♂︎, very small. Erromenus brunnicans, ♀︎, ant. 27. Cratophion guttulator Thunb. ♀︎: very nice! Ant. 33 = angustipennis Hlgr. fide J.F.P. Stenomacrus merula? ♀︎, ant. 25. Braconids omitted: see below. Campoplegid ♂︎ = Nepiera concinna ♂︎, ant. 30. Plectiscus sp. ♀︎, ant. 23. Hemipteron off Marram Grass 3 Proctos. Diptera off Marram Grass 2 Cinctus cameroni? 3♀︎♀︎, 1♂︎. Proctos, Chalcids & Cynipid (2) Braconids. Apanteles sp. near pallipes, ♂︎ Opius cf. politis m.: ♀︎, ant. 24: a rather poor specimen: legs pale. O. cf. var. of politus, ♀︎, ant. 24: a more robust insect, with hind coxae black & hind tibiae & tarsi partly blackened. ? this species. Dacnusa (R.) areolaris, ♂︎ (ant. 22), 2♀︎♀︎ (ant. 21 & 22), but the ♂︎ has all coxae +/- pale, which I don't altogether like! Aphidius sp.? ♂︎, ant. 17: this ♂︎ might come near pascuorum
