 | From Laurence Lewis 1732 Pine St. Phila. An ancient silver coin of Venice. This coin & a duplicate, were found near Smyrna recently by an American officer. DUX (Duge) and VENET (Venice) fix its place; but the images are very like the Greek-Roman of the 10th to the 12th Centuries and to XC. With the figure of Christ is a Greek abbreviation. Perhaps a coin of the Crusade Era.
