March 9. | From Gen. M. C. Meigs, Quartermaster General U. S. Army. A half-dollar, & Pistareen of Carlos & Joanna of Spain. Coined about 1516-19. Washed up on the Beach of Pache Island, southern of the Texas Mexican Gulf Coast, and in 1870, presented at Corpus Christi to Gen. Meigs.
 | In Texas, these Coins are believed to have come out of a Treasure ship wrecked on the Coast while carrying funds to Cortez Army. He entered the City of Mexico in 1519.
