The message is delivered to the addressee and received by him subject to the following Terms and Conditions, which the addressee hereby ratifies and agrees to, viz.:

TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

To guard against mistakes or delays every message should be Repeated; that is, telegraphed back to the originating office for comparison. For such repeating an additional charge of one-quarter the regular rate will be made. 

The Compagnie Française des Câbles Télégraphiques will not incur or accept any liability whatsoever, either for the due transmission of Messages to the Cables, or for their safe delivery at their destinations; nor will they accept any liability arising from delay or stoppage by reason of any accident to the cables or instruments, or from errors in cypher, or obscure messages, or caused by indistinct handwriting; nor will they consent to be liable, under any circumstances, for any sum whatever, as damages or otherwise, for loss resulting from errors, mistakes, delays, mis-delivery, non-delivery, or other causes, in respect of any message entrusted to them beyond the return in the case of repeated messages, of that portion of the charge which may accrue to this Company out of the amount received from the sender for this and the other companies by whose lines such message may pass to reach its destination. This Company is not to be liable in any case where the claim is not presented in writing within sixty days after the sending of the message. This Company is hereby made the agent of the sender, without liability, to forward any message over the lines of any other company to reach its destination. The above terms and conditions shall also bind the addressee of the above message.

No inquiry respecting this Message can be attended to without the production of this paper. Repetitions of doubtful words should be obtained through the Company's offices, and not by DIRECT application to the sender.
