Referring to your endorsement of the 2nd instant, requesting that Captain W.H. Doherty Assistant Quartermaster U.S. Volunteers be ordered to report for duty to Colonel E. Whittlesey, Assistant Commissioner Bureau Refugees Freedmen and Abandoned Lands for the State of North Carolina.  I have the honor to inform you that Captain Doherty was honorably mustered out of the service of the United States by Special Orders No. 629 Adjutant General's Office December 6th" 1865.
