In the interview I had the honor to have with you in Washington some days ago, you intimated the opinion that my house would be restored to me by the order of Gen. Robinson; and desired me to write to you in case it should happen otherwise.  I did not go to Raleigh as you recommended, because while in Richmond I received intelligence that he had already acted upon my application, and had refused it.  I now enclose the papers to you in the belief that the expectation you held out to me of your favorable action
