June 2 Sunday.

This afternoon I went over to the Hemlocks. Found a Chipping Sparrows nest in a gooseberry bush by Kapelke's. It contained eggs. The old one sat on the until my hand nearly touched it. Went on across the [[strikethrough]]river[[/strikethrough]] creek. A Bluejay sat in the top of a large tree for a long time and never moved. A male Rose-breasted Grosbeak fought another. It gave a note like [[underscored with wavy line]] squee squee [[/underscored with wavy line]]. Took down a number of Wood Thrush notes; a harsh rolling tuck [[underline with wavy line]] or pluck [[/underline with wavy line]].

Indigo Buntings and Phoebe's were very thick.
