R.R. Yards dn Baraboo 3:50 P.M. Dec. 10, 1901 Tonight I was down in the railroad yards. [[marginalia]] tameness [[/marginalia]] English Sparrows were very thick and very tame. They would let me pass within 4 feet of them and never dodge when I motioned at them. [[marginalia]] feeding habits [[/marginalia]] They flew into empty box cars to feed and seemed to fly under the tracks of the cars without fear. [[marginalia]] food [[/marginalia]] They found plenty of wheat and corn to eat. When one found a kernel of corn it would nibble small pieces off with it bill and swallow them. When it first found it, it would fly to a short distance from the others so that they could not steal it. Sometimes another would come and snatch it away.
