Maine's Woods 8:00 A.M.

Apr. 6, 1902
This morning after breakfast I went down in Maine's Woods. It was warm and bright and every thing was wet from last night's rain.
[[marginalia] note [[/marginalia]] Heard a curious woodpecker like laughing note in a true and went back to see what it was.
[[marginalia]] cause [[/marginalia]] It was a Bluejay screaming at three strange hawks flying over.

Transcription Notes:
Margin notes arranged against relevant section in the text. The margin note is effectively a reference to the text, which it seems clear is what Wetmore meant to do.
