Elm In Front of High School in Baraboo 3:15 P.M.

April 16,1902
[[marginalia]] position [[/marginalia]] This afternoon while reciting Latin I saw a Robin light in an elm outside the open window.  It was a female. 
[[marginalia]] note of anger [[/marginalia]]  She opened her mouth angrily crouched and gave a rapid note of anger like [[underlined]] skeep skeep ske he hehe [[/underlined]]. Immediately the male dashed up and flew at her. 
[[marginalia]] fight [[/marginalia]]  They had a rough and tumble fight until she fled.  
[[marginalia]] building nest [[/marginalia]]  Then my eye caught a newly begun nest on a limb a few feet off and In a minute the female came back bringing a beak full of grass.  She lit on the nest and deposited her load to her satisfaction.  Then she began to burrow in the mass of grass occassionally arranging a bunch more to her satisfaction until she had made a cup. She used her breast to mould it. Each time she rested in the nest for awhile.
