Near Water works dam In Baraboo 4:05 P.M.

April 23, 1902
This afternoon I was down by the Water Works dam.
[[marginalia]] height [[/marginalia]] A male Marsh Hawk sailed over about 100 feet up. This is as handsome and graceful a bird as we have here.
[[marginalia]] balancing [[/marginalia]] When the wind struck it with greater force it decurved its wings to keep balanced. The set of its wings reminded me of a cupid's bow. It went against the wind.
[[marginalia]] lack of fear [[/marginalia]] Birds near did not seem frightened by its presence. It turned its head under to look down.
