Went down in the Old Pasture. Birds were thick as usual. I saw a pair of Song Sparrows mating. The female seemed very indignant at the attentions paid to her and chased the male with continual [[underline]] tsuts [[/underline]]. They flew low along the ground and through the brush piles. with a straight flittling entirely different that usually seen. At every pause he would sing and then she would take to chasing him again

In Seeley's Marsh were half a dozen male Red-wings in full song. I heard a hurried Sparrowlike [[underline]] tsit tsit-it tsit-it tsit-it [[/underline]] coming from the marsh. It sounded exactly like a young bird. There was nothing in sight but a Red-wing in a box-Elder tree, who sang and between times examined his toes in an embarrassed manner. Soon I noticed that a tsit preceeded his song nearly always and that I never heard the note while he sang. Soon I caught in the act and was satisfied. He gave three songs [[underline]] h'war Ker ee [[/underline]] adn Co (wh)er lee and [[underline]] ha wer Kiva lee [[/underline]]
