July 26, Sunday

This morning before breakfast I saw fourteen great Blue Herons fly over they flew in a west, south-westerly direction about three hundred feet up. They flew in line and were silent. Above the slough they circled and went down behind the woods. After breakfast I went over there to see if I could find them. The Kingfishers kept flying along in front and finally, the Herons flew at their warning rattle from the slimy pond at the end of the slough. They gave low honks as they came up and [[?]].
