No.60. iris brown, bill dusky, yellowish at base of lower mandible. tarsus dull flesh color. claws dusky. Length 4 11/16 wing & tail 1 7/8. [[symbol for female]] [[?]]. stomach contents shelled buckwheat.

No.61. Astragalinus tristis. A. Wetmore. Seeley Creek near Hawk Creek. iris brown. bill dusky whitish at base of lower mandible. tarsus dullreddish white, claws dusky. Length 4 3/4 wing 3 1/16 tail 1 3/4. [[symbol for male]] [[?]]. stomach contents. shelled buckwheat.

No.62. Astragalinus tristis. A.Wetmore. Seeley Creek near Hawk Creek. iris brown, bill dusky, yellowish at base of lower mandible. tarsus yellowish white claws dusky. Length 4 3/4 wing 2 7/8 tail 1 3/4. [[female symbol]] in. stomach contents shelled buckwheat.

No.63. Cyanocitta cristata. A.Wetmore. at Home, North Freedom, Wis., bill dull black with whitish streak at end of lower mandible and upper tipped with the same. tarsus and claws black. Length 11 1/4, wing 5 3/8 tail 4 3/4 [[female symbol]] [[?ad]]. stomach contents field corn mostly in very fine Particles.

The throats of the Goldfinches also contained a considerable amount of buckwheat and the stomach were literally packed. Perhaps the throat was a sort of crop for storage. When last sun the rest of the flock were still feeding however.

This morning after breakfast Art Rudy and I went down in the fields and followed Seeley Creek nearly to the millpond. Near [[?Donaghey's]] a single crow called an alarm and before we saw a single Bluejay that called an alarm. several times I thought I heard Pine Grosbeaks but was not sure. Below [[?Brilliotts]] I saw a [[strikethrough]] nd [[/strikethrough]] pair of Jays and shot at one. We followed it up and were forced to cross the creek on a log
