This morning over in the Tamarack Swamp I shot a Lincoln Sparrow. It flew up out of a little bog and lit in a little bush in some leaves. It perked and peered around and I thought it was a Song Sparrow. It seemed rather queer in its actions however and I stepped back and shot it and was agreeably surprised.

The Yellow-bellied Flycatcher acted much the same as the others of its family and was silent.

I also saw some Traills Flycatchers. They kept along the river in the Underbrush and gave a note like [[underlined]] pip [[/underlined]]. They were moderately active [[strikethrough]] but [[/strikethrough]] kept rather well hid. I shot one across the river but could not find it.

May 30, Monday.
