again with the horse. both trips I am sure I have heard the call-notes of the Blue-gray gnatcatcher but have never been able to see one.  This time I was almost sure I shot a Nashville Warbler but was unable to find it.  It was hopping around in a little bush about twenty feet off and I looked for it a long time before I finally gave it up.

I shot a Yellow-billed Cuckoo as she flew from her nest just above my head.  She contained an egg ready to be laid.  In her stomach was the wish bone and breast bone of a young bird!  I was much surprised.  The nest was empty.
