they had probably gone to feed. I am looking carefully for Porzana noveboracensis. 

Heard a Purple Finch sing but could not find it. Cedar Waxwings were fairly thick. They were hardly ever alone and usually three were together.  

Aug. 24, Wednesday. 

382. Porzana carolina. A. Wetmore. Seeley's Marsh North Freedom; Wis, iris brown. maxilla & tip of mandible greenish. rest of bill & ring around maxilla yellow, tarsus dull green. Length 7 3/4 wing 4 5/16 Tail 2 1/8 [[male symbol]] im. stomach contents seeds. 

This morning I had a Sora and a badly damaged [[strikethrough]] sora [[/strikethrough]] ^[[swamp sparrow]] in my traps. 

Went over to Fern Dell. Saw a few Nighthawks and a great many Warblers which I unable to identify. 

Aug. 25, Thursday. 

383. Porzana carolina. A. Wetmore. Seeley's Marsh, North Freedom, Wis iris drab. maxilla greenish, mandible greenish yellow. tarsus dull green. Length 7 3/4 wing 4 5/16 tail 1 5/8 [[male symbol]] im. stomach contents seeds. 

384. Melospiza cinerea melodia. A. Wetmore, Seeley's Marsh, North Freedom Wis, iris brown. maxilla dark brown. Sides of bill dark horn [[strikethrough]] slaty white [[/strikethrough]] rest of mandible flesh color. Length 5 1/2 wing 2 1/2 tail 2 1/4 [[female symbol]] im. stomach contents seeds & insects.
