This morning after breakfast I went over in Dickie's Marsh. The water was very deep and it was very deep. Soon I heard a familiar [[underline]] quark [[/underline]] and a flock of Blue-winged Teal came up from behind some bushes. I did not see them at all. These were the only Ducks found in here. White-throated Sparrow were thick in the brushpiles and I secured one. They were singing. As I came to a brush-pile they would all string out on the other side. Saw a Wilson Snipe fly over calling and watched it until it lit in a field about fifty rods away. Went over there but did not find it. Sparrows, Vesper, Song, White-throated, Chewinks and Myrtle Warblers were thick along the fence-rows. A single Kingfisher flew up and went over in the Marsh. Coming back a small light colored sparrow flew up from a stubble field. It dropped back after a short flight much in the manner of Ammodramus nelsoni and when it came up again lit on some weeds by a fence. I shot it and it proved to be Leconte's Sparrow. It was a very handsome resembling in shape and in some of the colors Nelson's Sparrow. I think I saw another but it got away. This bird remained quiet when sitting on the weed. The ground was not wet where it was but just a few beyond was the marsh.
