May 18 III

open, red gape very conspicuous. Female struggled, but didn't peck up at male. [[male symbol]]'s call a hoarse, rhythmic "Keh-Keh-Keh Keh-Keh—". Becoming louder & shriller, more like Long Call, when [[female symbol]] struggled. [[female symbol]] finally ran out from under. Both birds immediately U [[male symbol]] shakes, PAG 4:50

Landing Call seems to be much like Glide — Long Call Less penetrating. More irregular? Fewer short brief "explosive" notes at end?

There are certainly some brief aerial pursuits, if nothing more.

Again bird doing charge - Swoop and Soar, arrived at nothing.

Have several times seen little circular flights by [[male symbol]]'s after MC. with female (don't know if their own female). No obvious aggressiveness, unless, possibly, Long Call Notes 5:03

Hump in neck conspicuous during O's and OL's

[[image]] Not exagerrated.

True pairing behavior. [[male symbol]] alone on station. Doing O, OL, OL-T, OL-T-T, etc at every passing flying bird. Then [[female symbol]] lands as [[male symbol]] does OL. Both OL-U & T & HF. (& PAG and Cpr) in the male. Then [[female symbol]] makes 6 little circular flights. MC each time upon her return. Usually just U & HF and Ts (sexes not symbionized for these last, either might do a variable number, in varying order) Noticeable that [[male symbol]] might OL-T to the female as she circled overhead, but he just U-HF to her as she landed. (showing white nape or hiding black head) After reventti MC. They relax. [[female symbol]] sleeps. [[male symbol]] preens 5:25
