[] *¹⁵ [[3 checkmarks]] [] M.C. at C. Male does O¹-U-T¹-U-HF¹-U-T²-U⁴-attack⁹- ¹¹
Female does O-U-T-U-T-U-T-U-flies away hurridly
(C did OL-T-U as female came in)

Female back at C now, 7:40; being allowed to stay for a little while. Is he becoming mated at last? He finally attacks her again. Then flies off himself. (This may be nice sequence). He is apparently letting her (if it is only one her) stay longer and longer

C does OL-T-T-U OL-T-U Another bird lands, but is attacked immediately Then period of calm.

OL OL-T OL-T-U (to bird about to land) OL, OL OL

C does U as visitor lands, then immediately attacks "her" Then he is visited by somebody else he allows to stay for a while. Then both fly off.

Male pipixcan, (certainly C at least), are probably even more likely to attack a visiting female than are male ridibundus. And yet they tend to show fewer of the higher-intensity postures. Why? Could it be that the U of this species may extend into higher intensities of motivation then the U of ridibundus? Could pipixcan be intermediate between delawarensis and ridibundus in this respect? Must check!

B4 immediately attacks a female who comes down to visit him in response to his invitation. 8:00

[] *¹⁶ [[checkmark]] [] Again Classical case C does OL¹-T-U¹-T-T-U²-T-U³ before female lands. Then O¹-U-HF¹-U-Cpr-U-Cpr-U⁴ attack¹⁰-¹². Female does OL-T-U-escape Female flies off circles Back. Attacked again [[?mixed]]., although C had given usual "motivation" display. Female flies off circles again & again, even [[?banks]] for insects. Back once or twice overhead C does OL-T, or OL-T-U each time. Finally, she lands beside B4, is immediately attacked, flies off. Circles. [[?nking]] for insects. Lands beside a third male and is lost from sight. 8:15.
