Peculiar. What looks (and sounds?) like choking going on at two places. Can't follow it well. Apparently between male and female. One pair, apparently without nest, do it together.

[[2 images: sketches of male and female bird]] N pair
Bills & heads moving up & down, or slightly backward & forward, in quick rhythm. Female lower than male, almost seems to be trying to get under him, tries to keep her bill near his, almost as if FB. Other pair, female on nest, male comes in on relief. Male adopts posture [[image]] making up & down movements of head & bill. Maybe making sound like quick "woof woof woof". (rhythm of AC). Female responds by FB (as have lots of females during all sorts of N.R's this morning).

Both these cases of Ch. were interspersed with all sorts of obviously hostile behavior: U+HF+O+OL+T+PAG+Cpr.

If this is choking it seems to be made up, in part, of modified AC. Same sound heard in other postures or lack of postures. 8:50.

[] ! [] One of these males! call it N, has bitter fight with neighbor. Lots of AC. Then flies, with AC, to female, attacks her furiously, for several seconds. Then M.C. Male does U-HF-U-AC-U-T-U-Cpr-Cpr-U-Pr. Female does U-HF-U-pr. 8:55.

N pair choking again, just as before. Brief.

AC posture.
Feathers raised as in atricilla choking 9:04.
