  Arrive "prospective mainland colony" 6:20 a.m. Cold. Cloudy. Easterly wind. Very few gulls around and, of those, few slow interest in nesting cover.

  No gulls down 6:30, but a few circling with LCN's, ALC's,LC's, and CC's.

  Yes! One down, in distance, 6:34.  Very alarmed. Two more, even farther. Up again in panic immediately.  A few more still circling. One down again, etc. Up again etc.

  Everything either settled or gone.  Not a peep anywhere, nothing visible 6:52.

                                               June 13

  Arrive Island Colony 4:40 a.m. Calm, clean, warm. Gulls perhaps a little shy, as might be expected.

  Near (?) back quickly.
  Colony quite quiet already 4:44.  Still a few birds g.c'ing.(?)

  Definite care of ALC in U, but not, apparently during interspecific (?) disputes.

  AC, OL, T, AC, AC, AC, AC, AC, AC, AC, AC, AC, AC, AC. (all underlined)

  Female joins male. Female ch, male nothing.
  When female ch more vigorously male gets off nest.

  O-AC-AC. AC-AC. AC, AC, AC, AC, AC, AC before attack (underlined)

  Male joins female.  Female U-HF. Male nothing. Female joins male. Female U, male nothing.

  Nz (?) back. (?) G.C. Then walks in diag. L.  Picks up (?) drops it. Chokes. More G.C.'s 4:56.
