Larus VI

Willie giving what sounds like FB "hlioo" from H-F without T, with Ruffle. Toward Herring Gull, who then attacks him.

DC is certainly the normal accompaniment of flying intention movements.

B.T. gives DC when vigorously attacked by Franklin.

Willie Ruffle in H with "Klioo" or "hyoo", as in FB, but no T.

Willie Ruffle in H with D.C.

July 24

Some "kyoo", with Ruffle notes, in H

Indeed, Willie does a lot of them, some much more extreme.

Ruffling confined to scapulas and back feathers, but these are raised very high indeed.

Willie doing his head-down rarely. Sometimes without Ruffle.

D.C. after being attacked (Willie)

BT stands in H — Ruffle. Then goes to Willie and begs.

July 26th

Willie never seems to show real B.

In connection with R, Bimbo has become aggressive during the last two days. Attacks other birds, especially over food. No real R, but I notice a trace of "r" before and after lifting wings.

Willie, and also BT, will show more or less R, sometimes, when "hyoo" in H. Can't be very aggressive.

Joe does show some B, not as "regular" (i.e. ritualized?) as that of Franklin's.
