Franklin's Gull. July 14, 1955

Arrive blind 12:10. Put in by Ted et al. Clear. Windy. Cool. Lots of young gulls, most older than my own.

Young coming back 12:15.

Fight between young. Brief. Accompanied by high intens DC. by both. Loser runs back to own territory, [[?]] Juv. Glck with R.

Chick (older than mine) greeting parent. Just bowing with high intens D.C., then Bowing with "whistle".

Chick attacked by adult does high intens D.C. when being actually pecked, changes to juv Glck when adult lets go and chick swims away.

Fight between chicks. Older, aggressor, gives juv. Glck when attacking. Loser gives juv. Glck as it flies.

Bowing usually without R

Adults slow in coming back. Maybe most on feeding grounds.

Bowing could almost be repeated OL's.

One escape reaction is certainly trying to "burrow" under attacker.

Greeting tends to be Bow with h.i. D.C. - Bow with whistle - whistle from H. (Whistle is wrong description. Definitely FB note

One chick repelling adult gave h.i. D.C, then much purer [[?]] notes, rather long drawn, but perhaps somewhat transitional to
