Franklin's June 29th

[] 4 checks, 2 X's, stepped only P.W. X []
Red Rump Hatched June 23th.
Green Rump Hatched a.m. June 25th.
Yellow Rump Hatched 4:00 p.m. (appr.) June 25th.
Blue Rump Hatched 4:00 p.m. (appr.) June 25th.

Seem to have same repertory as others (although I am not sure of this yet). Plus "Rasp" "distress call" - less polysyllabic than the usual one.

Rasp given by Red Rump when Gus pecked its feet. Sounded almost like threat!

June 30th

Rasp is very common by RR. Lower intensity than the more typical distress call? Typical distress call has rasping quality. Whistle seems to have almost disappeared. In fact, I can't find it in RR when I really try at 7:30 p.m. Still some whistle in YR. GR is sick and giving no calls at all

Red Shoulders Hatched 8:30 a.m. June 27th.

July 1

Listening to gull hatching. Mostly monosyllabic, some disyllabic, notes while in cage. Both rasping and whistling.

Then, out of egg but still very wet, can get full trisyllabic, rasping and whistling versions, possibly also the screaming version. No. No shrill version yet. Still not several hours later

July 3

About the same. Occas. peck one another's bills. Apparently a FB type reaction. Often accompanied by burst of rasps, more or less non-syllabic. Hostility.

Introduced to Gus & Willie this afternoon. No interesting response.

July 5

RR [[smudged text]] seems to give whistle when wanting to be fed. FB?
