41 Ramphocelus, Oct. 26, 1958, II further indication that the R of the Orange-rump is aggressive. The O male has several times chased or advanced toward other birds, perhaps even made little jabbing int. (?) toward them, during several bursts of R this morning. He also seems to be particularly likely follow and do R toward the female Silver-bill. Twice this morning he did R toward her in fairly distinctive posture, standing on the ground, with belly feathers rather fluffed. [[image - sketch of bird with beak open]] This sort of behavior, in conjunction with the behavior of the Y Orange-rump to this morning (?) The Black-throat earlier suggest that R may be a "normal" part of the "courtship" behavior of male Orange-rumps in the wild. Ramphocelus I.
