are comparatively loud & metallic, and slightly nasal. In other words, they are more like the "Auh" CN's of other species than are the "Tsit"s of any other species. The "Tsit"s of these Silver-bills might be very similar to the CN's from which both the "Tsit"s and "Auh"s of other species have been derived.

Been watching more Silver-bells, across the (?) River from Iquitos. Moving about in a small flock approximately 6 or 7 birds. Perhaps just a family party, but I thought I saw 2 adult males in the group at the same time.

They utter their "Tsit" CN's almost constantly when moving about, but at very distinct intervals, of a least several seconds. (Just like the "Auh" CN's of the Sangre de Toros). In some cases, at least, the "Tsit" CN's are uttered at a somewhat accelerated pace when the birds are flying across moderately wide open space.

I have heard (but not seen well) a few more cases of MCN when one bird joins another (as in N.Y., see pg. 42). This is beginning to remind me of the GHAC of the Green-backed Sparrow and Saltator (?)!

These birds also have another CN-like pattern. A longer note, which might be transcribed as "Wheeet" or even "Tuh-wheeet". Sometimes a couple of notes repeated one right after the other, comme ca:
