Rhamphocelus [[Ramphocelus]], Apr. 30, 1960, III

went down into a typical breast - low St Posture facing the female, and raised either one or both wings. (I think only one, the one nearest the female). Quite silent. The female just flew away. The male immediately relaxed - and soon resumed singing & flying about as before.

This was certainly sex, but I don't know how typical

It is fairly obvious, I think, that the "Keeyoo" notes during the A male's singing this morning must be closely related to, or identical with the notes I transcribed as "Whee hoo" in my description of juvenile "whisper song" I described on Apr. 6, 1958, p. 19, and the notes I transcribed as "Whewhew" in my description of "DWS" on July 18, 1959, p. 52. (It should be mentioned, to avoid confusion, that the "Keeyoo" notes uttered by male A today were quite loud - much louder than any notes uttered during "whisper songs."

Watching the A pair again early this morning. Their behavior was essentially similar to yesterday - with a few interesting variations.
