Rhamphocelus [[Ramphocelus]], May 5, 1960, III       

The A male always resumed singing "Keeyoo" songs after bursts of APCN's. Several times he interrupted his "Keeyoo" songs to fly to the female in his usual way, to lean over her and/or direct an St toward her. His usual St in such circumstances was more or less comme ça:

[[image]] I am not quite sure of the usual position of the wings.

The female always flew away when the male approached her this morning. I never saw her peck him or utter MCN's. It is possible, however, that she is gradually becoming a little more aroused. At least, she flew around the cage much more frequently this morning than on May 1 or April 30, and she also uttered a few PCN's (probably identical with those of the male) during some of her flights.

There is a nest of Sangre de Toros right outside my house. Two days ago, the young were just starting to open their eyes.

Their young beg by uttering "Zeee zeee zeee zee...." or "Whee whee whee whee.... or "Zeeea zeeea zeeea zeeea..." notes.
