I presume, in fact, that the R patterns of this species are really strictly homologous with the HAC of other species. Just HAC's which have been slowed down.

One male gave a brief Ф before attack and after attack. Both times in flight.

Arrive same area as yesterday, 6:10 a.m. Just getting light. All the Yellow-rumps ("YRs) quite silent.

First sounds heard 6:30 a.m. TssN's or PN's. Birds not seen. Ф's heard 6:32. First NN's (assoc. with Ф's) heard 6:33 a.m.

Male YR attacks juv. or female Sangre. Silent before attack. NN's-TssN's after attack 6:42.

Single male YR. Sits alone. Exposed. Utters series brief Ф's. Interjected with occas. PN's.

PN's seem to be hoarser as well as longer than TssN's! Apparently well differentiated this morning. Some PN's might be transcribed as "Tseeeeeeewup!" Abrupt ending.

This male YR ("A") seems to be quite unmated. No female has come near him yet (6:47). Flying from perch to perch. Uttering all usual types notes and calls, but mostly brief Ф's.

One female or juv. YR supplants another. Supplanted bird utters Ф (brief but typical) after retreat!
