Ramphocelus, Mar. 5, 1962, II

(Before I forget, I should mention that Smith saw a female or juv. carrying n.m. in the C area yesterday - after I had stopped observing.)

There now seem to be 3 females or juvs in C territory!

All birds low in bushes. Lots of accelerated R's or ФR's from bushes.

All the females or juvs seem to have breast and belly feathers very fluffed whenever they sit for a few seconds.

Male back on high exposed perch uttering Ф's 6:37 a.m. Then down to join others in low bush. Invisible.

Female or juv. perched alone on high exposed perch. Uttering ФR's and/or Ф's (without terminal 'yah"s). This is one of C's group (whom C tends to ignore when sitting close by).6:45.

C apparently following one of the females or juvs. more closely than the others.

When uttering Ф's from high perch, C has all head feathers fluffed or ruffled [[Neck?]] chin & cheek feathers.

[[image]] definitely correct

All quiet now 6:50 a.m. All birds disappeared from view.

Then male back on perch. Uttering Ф's

Male seems to have 3 or 4 favorite perches, "stations," on his territory.
