Ramphocelus, Mar. 5, 1962, III

I have just realized that this species seems to use PN's relatively very rarely!!

Male C perched uttering Ф's. Then swoops down on flying female or juv. Uttering accelerated ФR as he does so. Accelerated to real "Traaaaa". Female flies on. Male perches.

This was very reminiscent of the "pounces" of male Emberizines

Male perched uttering Ф's with extreme Back R, moderate Wing-droop. Head very flat on top. (When he uttered Ф's with general raising of head feathers earlier, his Back R was only moderate.

[] ? ? [] Male follows female or juv. into distant bushes. Back. Perches on station. BW Silent. Then starts Ф's and TssN's. Is this post-copulatory??? 7:10.

Male utters soft accelerated ФR's (not Ф's) when female or juv. lands about 4 ft from him. In picture shown on next page.
