Back in B & C area 5:45 a.m. Don't pay much attention to birds (and the birds don't seem to be very noisy) until approximately 6:45. Then C (at least) is uttering lots of Ф's with Back R and Wing droop. At least 2 females or juvs in his area, being more or less noisy in the usual way.

7:30 a.m. C male has been alone most of the time for the last 1/2 hour. Perched high & exposed. Uttering occas. TssN's and/or (?)Ф's. All very low intensity. I imagine his mate(s) must be incubating.

7:30 a.m. Group of Yellow-rumps (at least 3 females or juvs, probably also one male) apparently mobbing. Can't see what. But all the birds are uttering lots of R's (sometimes verging on ФR) and NN's while dashing about most excitedly.

Arrive upper field area (near A male area) 6:00 a.m. At least 1 male Yellow-rump already vocal. Uttering lots of Ф's without ФR. These notes might be transcribed as either "Keeyah" or "Keezah." Definitely buzzy, relatively loud. Tss quality uttered in rapid indeterminate series. [[image]] Occasionally interrupted by NN's, Ф's with ФR, and/or soft PN's. Some or all of the latter might also be transcribed as "Keeyah" but definitely softer, more whistled, more melodious than Ф's without ФR.
