All D birds quite quiet and silent now 6:45. Perhaps they copulate only once a day.

Apparent boundary dispute between 2 males (not A or D); 7:20 a.m. Lots of chasing back & forth. At least a couple of actual fights in air. Chasing accompanied by lots of soft accelerated [[Phi symbol]]R's. Rather fluctuating (but not really warbling). Fights silent. I couldn't see the birds during part of the dispute; but when I did see them they were not performing much in the way of ritualized postures or movements. No low or bowing postures. No unusual spreading or fanning of tail. Just slight Back R, usually with some more or less moderate wing-droop.

I have had my old male & female Yellow-rumps in separate cages for over a month now. Going to put them together today.

Both birds will be frightened & tired, as we have had to change the branches in the cage in which the female has been. This is the cage in which we will put the male.

Male put in 7:24 a.m.

Male flies straight to the female. Lands beside her. No display. Both just stand, looking at one another 7:26, 7:29, 7:34. Both apparently quite relaxed. Male gradually becoming more fluffed, more or less all over.

Both birds start to move around a little 7:40 Silent. Not together.
