her. Advances down branch toward her. Utters brief RR-followed immediately by a very soft muffled R as he does so. Female jabs at him and he flies away. This muffled R very reminiscent of muffled R of male BCBT's!!

Then male utters RR - muffled R-RR when female lands beside him. She flies away immediately 6:30.

Then male utters series 3 or 4 GHAC type notes when male lands beside him again.

In between these incidents, birds continue flying with occasional TssN's.

Male utters whole series jumbled HAC-type RR's, GHAC type notes and R's when sitting close beside female. Female jabs at him and he retreats. (The R's uttered during the incident were mostly muffled. But included at least one relatively brief phrase of ordinary loudness).

TssN's may be quite as buzzy and hoarse as typical GHAC type notes. But intergrades between TssN's and GHAC notes seem to be rare or absent.

Female lands beside male 6:39 a.m. Male advances toward her, raising head & neck to lean over her back. Apparent int. mov. of mounting. Utters series of 3 or 4 brief HAC-type RR's as he does so female jabs at him. He flies off.

All these pecking bouts accompanied by many Φ's. Interestingly enough, male never had Back R at any time during the visit. Does this suggest that Back R is not purely hostile????

When visitor finally goes, both the captive birds resume
