(?) major,(underlined) March 13,1960,II 13

days) during the time it was trying to get under Hrr. A few minutes later, when I had taken M out of the cage and let it run loose on the floor, it uttered bursts of DN2's whenever I put my hand down, in an intention movement of picking it up. Their facts (?) would indicate that the DN2's are still generalized duties (?) notes, or, at least, capable of being produced by several different kinds of thwarting. M was obviously frightened, running away from me, when it uttered DN2's when I put my hand down in an (?) of picking it up. It's desire to be "brooded" was obviously thwarted, and/or it was just physically uncomfortable, when it uttered DN2's as it tried to snuggle under Hrr.
M still doesn't utter any sound at all when it is actually picked up in the hand. Neither does Hrr. They both gaped after struggling in my hands tonight. This does appear to be nothing more than "panting" as a result of physical exhaustion. Hrr, at least, was in a state of apparent physical exhaustion when I let it out of my hands.
I tried isolating M again tonight. For about 15 minutes. It kept absolutely silent throughout this period, in spite of the fact that it was frantically trying to find me(even leaping repeatedly against the door behind which I was hidden.)
Hrr is almost completely silent in almost all circumstances (?) days. It didn't utter a sound tonight when handled, or when I just touched it gently, or just made an (?) of grabbing it, or when it was isolated for 15 minutes. The only it did do was utter one (underlined) DN1 when M was trying to snuggle under it. This was presumably a (?)note of (?),as M almost knocked it over during the process.
All or most of Hrr's extreme silence may be correlated with its leg injury. (It may also be significant that Hrr has always been much more timid than M - see David's notes.Z)
